Your Epic Adventure Awaits in Barinas
Barinas is where the Andes meet the Plains, calling all adventurers to conquer world-class whitewater rafting on the Acequia River. Discover the vast Llanero savannas and their incredible wildlife.
Rafting aguas bravas
This Whitewater Rafting tour will immerse you in an epic 4-day, 3-night adventure, combining the adrenaline of raft descents with relaxation in the heart of the Andean foothills of Barinas.
The experience includes two thrilling rafting tours: one short (4 km) and one “mega long” (12 km), both designed for adventurers and accompanied by trained guides. In addition to the river action, the itinerary offers activities such as a petroglyph hike and time to enjoy the small beach and the whitewater pool. The accommodation combines the experience of staying overnight at the Posada Guamanchi and one night at the Hotel Eurobuilding to recharge before heading home.

We make your stay in Venezuela the most comfortable and adapt to your personal needs.
Your preparation should focus on nature and adventure:
Clothing: Pack comfortable, light clothing that dries quickly, ideal for warm climates. Include swimwear.
Footwear: Sturdy sports or trekking shoes, plus sandals or water shoes (for rafting and river activities).
Health and Safety: High-factor sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and good insect repellent. It is advisable to consult an international vaccination center about the Yellow Fever vaccine.
Money: Although the Bolívar is the official currency, carry enough cash in foreign currency (USD or EUR) for uncovered expenses.
Travel Insurance: Purchase comprehensive medical insurance for the entire duration of your trip, as private healthcare can be expensive.
For tourist stays (generally less than 90 days), you should have the following documentation ready upon arrival:
Valid Passport: Must be valid for a minimum of six months from your date of entry.
Return/Onward Ticket: Proof that you will leave the country.
Proof of Accommodation: Hotel reservation or a letter of invitation (simple or notarized).
Sufficient Funds: Proof of financial solvency to cover your stay.
Tourist Visa: Verify if your nationality requires a visa with the Venezuelan consulate in your country before traveling.
Important Note: If you hold dual nationality (e.g., Spanish-Venezuelan), Venezuelan authorities require presenting your Venezuelan passport to exit the country.
Itineraries in Barinas typically combine the city (culture) with the foothills and plains (adventure):
Adventure Route (Rafting and Mountain): Explore the Acequia River for rafting (Grade 3, ideal for beginners; rainy season: May–November). Visit Altamira de Cáceres (history) and the hiking areas in the Andean foothills (Sierra de la Culata).
Llanos Route (Safari and Wildlife): Head south (such as Hato Cristero or near the Guaritico River) for wildlife safaris. Activities include bird watching (one of the highest concentrations in the world), safaris by truck or on foot at dawn/dusk, horseback riding, and, depending on the season, piranha fishing.
Best Time to Visit: The dry season (December to April) is ideal for outdoor activities and viewing concentrated wildlife, though rafting is best during the rainy season.
Security: Although small cities like Barinas generally have fewer security issues than large metropolises, remain vigilant. Do not display valuables (jewelry or expensive electronics).
Documentation: Always carry a photocopy of your passport. Original documents should be kept secure at your lodging.
Transportation: Public transport is not recommended in the interior of the country due to security and operational reasons. Use only reliable transport services arranged with your tour operator or hotel.
Routes: Avoid driving or traveling on intercity roads during nighttime hours.
Water and Food: Drink bottled mineral water and avoid consuming food sold at street stalls.
Communication/Electricity: Be prepared for power outages or water supply issues, which are common in the interior of the country. Mobile phone signal may be limited.
