General Package Information
Day 1
Arrive by air in San Carlos de Río Negro. Upon arrival, we will complete check-in with civil and military authorities to secure the necessary permits to enter the Casiquiare–Pasimoni Biosphere Reserve. Boarding aluminum boats powered by 40 hp engines, we begin ascending the Río Negro. Soon, we’ll reach the confluence of the Guainía River and the Casiquiare Channel, where the birth of the Río Negro unfolds before your eyes. Continuing along the channel, we pass Laja de Curimacare, offering breathtaking views of the towering rock of Curimacare emerging from the lush Amazon jungle. Further upstream, we enter the Pasimoni River and arrive at the Iguana Boat, positioned at the mouth of the stream leading to the Shabono Míomapuweytery. We will be welcomed by the community and introduced to the Yanomami way of life.
Day 2
At dawn, join the Yanomami community — women, men, children, and elders — for an immersive jungle walk to hunt and gather. Return to the Shabono by afternoon. Afternoons are often dedicated to sacred ceremonies with the shamans. For those wishing to sleep in the Shabono, hammocks with mosquito nets can be arranged. Evenings are filled with traditional chants, resonating through the night and at dawn.
Day 3
After breakfast, accompany the women in traditional basket fishing — a cherished method where elders also participate. On the way back, visit the conucos (cultivated plots) to harvest plantains. Upon returning to the Shabono, join the community in a celebration led by shamans, with music, rituals, and shared joy. Spend the night aboard the Iguana Boat.
Day 4
Begin the return journey early, navigating along the river back to San Carlos de Río Negro, then transfer by air to Caracas.
