General Package Information
Day 1
Arrival in San Carlos de Río Negro by air. We will check in with civil and military authorities to confirm the corresponding permits to enter the Casiquiare-Pasimoni biosphere reserve. We will embark on the aluminum boats propelled by 40 hp engines and begin to ascend the Río Negro. Further on, we will find the confluence of the Guainia River and the Casiquiare Channel. At this site, we will observe how the beginning of the Río Negro can be seen from the union of these two rivers. We continue navigating further up the Casiquiare Channel, passing by the Laja de Curimacare, which offers a very beautiful view of the great rock of Curimacare—its imposing height is observed before the Amazonian jungle. We continue further up the Casiquiare and enter the Pasimoni River until reaching the Iguana vessel. From there, we will be right at the mouth of the stream to enter the míomapuweytery
Shabono. We will visit the community to present the visitors to them and ask them to allow us to accompany them.
Day 2
- Very early in the morning, we will walk into the jungle with some women, men, children, and elders to go hunting and gathering. We will return to the Shabono in the afternoon. Normally, the afternoons are the times for the ceremony with the Shamans. If you wish to sleep in the Shabono, we can also hang hammocks with mosquito nets. There are chants (singing) at night and at dawn as well.
Day 3
- In the morning, after breakfast, we will go with the women to fish with baskets. This method of fishing is normally done more by women than men, but the elders also participate. On the way back, we will visit the conucos (cultivated plots) to harvest plantains, and upon returning to the Shabono, we will have a celebration accompanied by the shamans, women, and men also in celebration. We will overnight on the Iguana boat
Day 4
- This day, we will start the return journey along the river early until we reach San Carlos de Río Negro, and from there, we will continue by air to Caracas.
